Today, I got an exclusive first look at the new lobby of the Contemporary Arts Center in downtown Cincinnati, a lobby that has been under construction for the last few months. The team at the CAC poured over $1.1 million into the project, and the results are very impressive.
The CAC has a brand new gift shop, welcome desk, and cafe in the old lobby space. The first floor also features new lighting installations, and at everywhere a visitor looks. The new face lift is enchanting and fun.
It’s a whole new chapter for the CAC.
If you haven’t visited the museum in the last few years, I recommend a stop now. Not only are curators working to make contemporary art accessible to everyone, but they’ve now got a space that is warm and inviting. Staffers want people to spend time in the new cafe and enjoy the lobby space, even if they don’t plan on seeing any exhibits.
Trust me. You’ll love it. And if you need another reason, here’s a short video I shot of Cincinnati Swing, an art installation that spans six levels of the museum. Pretty cool, huh?
